Forgot Your Password?
You may be able to reset your own password without contacting IT, using Microsoft's Self-Service Password Reset.
What is Self-Service Password Reset?
Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) is a feature of Microsoft 365 that lets you reset your own forgotten password — securely, and without needing to contact IT.
It works by verifying your identity through your phone (the same phone you registered for MFA during initial setup). Once verified, you can choose a new password.
You must have completed MFA setup first. SSPR only works if you have already set up MFA (Step 3 of the initial setup). If you have not done this yet, or if your MFA is not working, contact the IT team directly.
How to reset your password
-
On your computer, go to the password reset page:
You can also get here by going to office.com, clicking Sign in, entering your email, and clicking "Forgot my password".
- Enter your Rotary email address (e.g.
jane.smith@rotary9660.org.au) and complete the CAPTCHA, then click Next. -
Microsoft will verify your identity using one of the methods you set up during initial setup:
- Authenticator app: Microsoft will show a 2-digit number on your computer screen. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, type that number in, and tap Approve.
- SMS text message: Microsoft will text a 6-digit code to your mobile. Enter it on your computer.
- Once verified, enter and confirm your new password. See the Change Password guide for password requirements.
- Click Finish. Your password has been reset. You can now sign in with your new password.
What if SSPR does not work?
SSPR may not work if:
- You have not yet completed the initial MFA setup
- You no longer have access to the phone you registered
- Your account has been locked due to too many failed sign-in attempts
In any of these cases, contact the IT team and they will reset your account for you.
Email support@rotary9660.org.au with your full name and Rotary email address so the IT team can find your account.
