Adding Rotary Brand Assets

Set up your Brand Kit with Rotary colours, fonts, and logos so every design is on-brand.

Why use a Brand Kit?

Canva's Brand Kit stores your club's colours, fonts, and logos in one place. Once set up, every team member can access the correct brand elements from the Brand button in the editor, without having to search for files or remember colour codes.

This is the single biggest time-saver in Canva. Instead of manually matching colours and hunting for logos, you click one button and everything is ready.

Setting up your Brand Kit

  1. Log in to your club's Canva for Nonprofits account.
  2. Click on your team name in the bottom left corner, then click Brand Kit (or go to Brand in the left sidebar).
  3. You will see sections for Logos, Colours, and Fonts.

Adding Rotary colours

Rotary has three tiers of brand colours. Add these to your Brand Kit so they are always available.

Tier Colours When to use
Primary Royal Blue, Gold, White Main colours for most designs. Use these the most.
Secondary Azure, Cranberry, Turquoise (Rotaract, Interact) Highlights and accents. Use to draw attention to key elements.
Tertiary Violet, Moss Green, Orange Occasional accents only. Use sparingly to make something pop.

To add colours:

  1. In your Brand Kit, click Add a colour under the Colours section.
  2. Enter the hex code for each colour (you can find the official hex codes on brandcentre.rotary.org under Brand Elements > Colours).
  3. Name each colour so your team knows what it is (e.g. "Rotary Royal Blue").
The shuffle trick: Once your colours are in the Brand Kit, open any design and click the Brand button in the left sidebar. Under Colours, click Shuffle to instantly apply your Rotary colours to the entire design. Click it again for a different combination. This is the fastest way to brand a template.

Adding the Rotary font

The official Rotary typeface is Frutiger, but it is a licensed font. Rotary International provides Open Sans as the free alternative for general use.

To add Open Sans to your Brand Kit:

  1. In the Fonts section, click Add a font.
  2. Search for Open Sans in Canva's built-in font library.
  3. Select it as your brand font.
Avoid serif fonts. Rotary's brand guidelines specify sans-serif fonts (like Open Sans). Do not use serif fonts like Times New Roman, Georgia, or other fonts with decorative strokes at the tips of letters.

Adding logos

Download official logos from brandcentre.rotary.org and upload them to your Brand Kit:

  1. In the Logos section, click Upload a logo.
  2. Upload the Rotary wheel, your club logo, and any program logos you use regularly (Interact, Rotaract, RYPEN, etc.).
  3. Upload each logo in multiple versions if available: colour, white, and black. Different backgrounds call for different logo versions.

Which logo version to use:

Background Logo version
Dark background (navy, black) White logo
Light background (white, cream) Colour logo or black logo
Blue or gold background White logo or black logo (avoid colour logo as it blends in)
Logo sizing: When you drag a logo from the Brand Kit onto your design, it may appear very small with a lot of blank space around it. This is normal. Just resize it by dragging a corner handle.
