Getting Canva for Nonprofits

How your Rotary club can apply for a free Canva Teams account with all premium features.

What is Canva for Nonprofits?

Canva for Nonprofits gives eligible organisations free access to Canva's premium features, including:

  • All Canva Pro design tools
  • Over 100 million premium photos, videos, graphics, and music
  • Brand Kit functionality (store your club's colours, fonts, and logos in one place)
  • Team collaboration for up to 50 users
  • AI-powered design tools

Rotary clubs in Australia are eligible to apply. Each club can have its own Canva for Nonprofits account.

How to apply

  1. Go to canva.com/canva-for-nonprofits.
  2. Click Get started for free (or Apply for Canva for Nonprofits).
  3. Sign in with an existing Canva account or create a new one. Use an email address associated with your club (a club secretary or president email works well).
  4. Complete the application form with your club's details:
    • Organisation name (e.g. "Rotary Club of Newcastle")
    • Organisation type: Nonprofit / Charity
    • Your country: Australia
  5. Upload the required documentation to verify your club's nonprofit status (see below).
  6. Submit the application. Canva reviews applications within approximately one week.
  7. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to activate your Canva for Nonprofits account.

What documentation do you need?

Canva uses a third-party service called Goodstack to verify nonprofit status. For Australian organisations, you will typically need to provide:

  • Your club's ABN
  • Proof of nonprofit status. As with Microsoft, Australian clubs qualify under one of three pathways: a DGR endorsed by the ATO, a charity registered with the ACNC, or an income tax-exempt not-for-profit as defined by the ATO. Most Rotary clubs use the ATO income-tax-exempt NFP pathway and do not have to be ACNC-registered. See Obtaining Microsoft 365 Nonprofit for the specific documents (ATO NFP lodgement, constitution extract, ABN extract)
  • Governing documents showing your club's structure and not-for-profit purpose
Not sure what to provide? Check the Canva eligibility guidelines for country-specific requirements. If your club is incorporated (most Australian Rotary clubs are), your certificate of incorporation and ABN should be sufficient.

Setting up your team after approval

Once your application is approved:

  1. Log in to Canva with the account you used to apply.
  2. You will now have a team workspace with all premium features enabled.
  3. To invite club members, click on your team name (bottom left on desktop) and go to People.
  4. Click Invite members and enter the email addresses of the people you want to add.
  5. Each person will receive an email invitation to join your club's Canva team.

You can have up to 50 users on a single Canva for Nonprofits team at no cost.

Tip: Set up your Brand Kit before inviting members. That way, everyone who joins will immediately have access to the correct logos, colours, and fonts.
